The Film
What we've heard about the film:
The movie which was screened in class was the short film Cashback (2004 - not the full-length 2006 version), with female nudity, but no sexual contact. The film was nominated for an academy award, and won several prestigious awards including the Tribeca Film Festival "Best Narrative Short" category. Apparently, parents signed permission slips at the beginning of the class, and students were given the option of leaving the room if the film made them uncomfortable. Students have noted that many of their classes routinely watch movies with more R-rated content.
Please Note:
- The movie shown was the short version in which there was only female nudity, with no sexual contact.
- Mr. Capron had permission slips signed by all the student's parents giving their OK for their daughters to watch R rated films.
- Mr. Capron had informed the students that any girl who felt uncomfortable could be excused from the watching the movie.
- Casti students routinely view movies in their other classes with a lot more R rated content (ex. "Europa, Europa" and "Othello.")
